Monoclonal Antibody

Monoclonal Antibody is an antibody that recognizes only one epitope from one B cell and is
widely used for diagnosis and treatment as well as for research because of its high specificity
for antigen. Peptides or purified proteins are mainly used as antigens, but antibodies can also
be produced with various antigens such as chemical or cell. Monoclonal antibody production is
more complicated than Polyclonal Antibody and long term development period is required, but
obtained antibody can be produced continuously with same quality. The recently developed
Monoclonal Antibody Next Innovation (MANI) protocol, which has been independently deve-
loped by AbClon, has dramatically increased the number of positive clones that respond to
antigens compared to the SOP method. We are also able to monitor the activity of the mono-
clonal antibody and to provide ascites / purification or in vitro culture / purification services
for mass production. In order to increase the probability of antibody production, the size of
antigen should be over 20kDa, and the antigen type should be similar to the native form as much
as possible. Antigen types with a high probability of producing antibodies are listed in order of
native> recombinant> peptide. If the protein size is small, it can be increase by attaching the
fusion protein. In this case, a positive sample for the tag protein is needed for screening. At
the time of fusion, negative selection can be made with this positive protein to screen antibody
against the desired target.

Polyclonal Antibody

The Polyclonal Antibody contains antibodies against several epitopes of one antigen, which
can be produced in a short time at a low cost and used by many researchers. These advan-
tages are widely used in WB, IHC, ICC, IP, and ELISA. Antibody can be produced using
peptides or purified proteins as well as SDS-PAGE gel. In addition, viruses and cells are also
used as antigens. The Polyclonal Antibody is provided in serum. after checking the activity of
the antibody, purification can proceed to improve the quality if necessary.
